What is the mission of the Alliance Israelite Univerelle for Jews living in North Africa and the Middle East?

The A.I.U. was a French-Jewish organization in Paris, with the main goal to emancipate and protect Eastern Jews. The mission of Alliance Israélite Universelle for the Jews living in North Africa and the Middle East was basically to make them into modern citizens of the country in which they lived. It was like a transformation in a sense, to try and adopt some of the European customs and beliefs. Additionally, the mission of the A.I.U was to provide effective aid to the people who suffer because of being Jewish.

How does Rabbi Uziel argue in favor of women’s suffrage?

Rabbi Uziel is in favor of women’s suffrage. Uziel brings up the point that women can’t be required to follow the disciplinary law from the national reps, and then not be able to elect them. He goes on to explain that women obey all the laws placed onto them by authority, but they have no say in who becomes someone of authority. Additionally, he argues that women are enlightened, and take part in buying, selling, and managing affairs just like men. So why not let women vote too?
