2. The Musar movement was a
movement that focused on deepening the understanding of ethical and spiritual
discipline. It attempted to create religious practices that would allow the
most inner light of God to show through the person practicing it. The movement
preached specific practices on Musar literature that would lead to the most
holy self that one could achieve.
3. In a Yashivah, boys and men
received an in-depth education of traditional Jewish texts such as the Talmud
and the Torah. This type of education had a strong emphasis on religious
teachings. They would sit through lectures during the day and discuss with a
Chavruta or study companion after the lectures. It teaches the boys and men
piety, devotion to the Jewish God and Jewish moral codes of conduct.
