Von Dohm:In regards to permitting Jews to keep their religious books but in the country's language not hebrew, would this effectively contribute to the goal of assimilating the Jews to the culture of the land? Michaelis: Jews are confined to jobs involving theft due to occupational restrictions, so wouldn't lifting these restrictions greatly decrease the crime rate? Mendelssohn: How crucial of a role is commerce in the immigration of Jews to economically prosperous areas?
