1. In the span of 100 years from 1800 to 1900 the world population of Jewish people increased by over 6 million Jews. By 1910 it increased by another 4 million. Russia accounted for almost half of the Jewish population. The mortality rate amongst infants declined significantly, while the death rate amongst adults declined as well. This trend promised an increase in Jewish population.
2. Due to the growth of Jews, the population density of them was putting pressure on local economies. many Jews left their small towns for the larger cities in search of new economic and educational opportunities. London went from 40,000 jews in the late 1800's to 200,000 by 1920 thanks to the Jews from Russia. Vienna's Jewish population also swelled. Other cities include Bialystok, Berdichev, Grodno, Pinsk, Lvov, Lodz, Lublin, Cracow.
