Post for Monday Nov 3rd

1. What problem/s for Jews did the varying kinds of Zionism propose to solve?

Zionism was based on two main aspects of Judaism. One being that Jews were part of a separate nation with a common heritage. They shared the same hopes and dreams for a community. Two being Jews would have a homeland to grow as a community. This State of Palestine would be a safe space for a new Jewish community where the main language would be Hebrew.

2. How did Pinsker analyze antisemitism (which he called Judeophobia) and what did he prescribe for Jews to do in response to it?

Jews would be naturally pushed down because of their minority with in society. As a whole Jews were always retreating from trying to be a part of the society, strangers. A very old thought that even if Jews tried to assimilate they would still not fit in, and if they didn't assimilate they did not even try to be part of the community. Jews had to leave and create their own homeland because they do not belong within a Christian society.
